Accepting Nominations: GSS Secretary, Treasurer

QUENTIN JAMIESON, INFORMATION OFFICER, GRADUATE STUDENT SENATE – Due to very recent resignations, the GSS is opening nominations to the entire GRADUATE STUDENT BODY for the positions of GSS Secretary and GSS Treasurer. If you are interested in either of these positions, please review the responsibilities of the Secretary and Treasurer found on the GSS OCTOBER 1ST ELECTIONS PAGE, and nominate yourself or someone interested in the position by sending an email to GSSElections@case.edu. NO EXPERIENCED IS NEEDED FOR EITHER OFFICER POSITION. If you're on the fence, read the Provost's letter about why service in the GSS will jumpstart your career. (Per Article III, Section A of the GSS Bylaws, an election will be held from among the pool of nominees at our next General Assembly meeting. These officers will serve out the remainder of the terms of their predecessors. An interim Secretary and Treasurer will be selected to serve in a temporary capacity until permanent officers can be elected.)

 

SAFE@CASE: CAMPUS SAFETY FAIR, Sept 10: 11am-2pm Thwing

DENISE DOUGLAS, ASSOCIATE DEAN, SCHOOL OF GRADUATE STUDIES (SGS) – Students will have a chance to interact directly with the police officers, fire personnel and others who respond during emergencies at Case Western Reserve University's first-ever Campus Safety Fair, 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 in the Thwing Center.

The fair will showcase programs such as Safe Ride and escort service, personal alarms, Rape Aggression Defense, CaseEMSand CaseWARN, the university's emergency alert service. In addition, students will be able to register their bikes and receive coupons for a free U lock and personal alarm.

A seasonal flu shot clinic will be held concurrently with the event. The free shot will be offered by University Health Services for all students, faculty and staff. In order to receive the shot, attendees must present their university employee or student IDs.

Representatives from Campus Police and Security Services; the University Circle Police Department; CaseEMS; University Health Services; the Office of Student Affairs; the Office of Housing, Residence Life & Greek Life; the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women; The American Red Cross; the Cuyahoga County Department of Justice Affairs; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and City of Cleveland safety divisions will be available to talk with the campus community

Case for Community Day / Indians Game

CHRISTA WHEELER, CHAIR, GSS ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE — Case for Community Day is September 25th, 2009: Noon - 4pm. You can no longer sign up to volunteer on the main Case page.  However, the GSS has slots open for the events that were set aside just for graduate students. GO TO THE FILER SURVEY AND SIGN UP NOW!!! (or email Christa at caw30@case.edu detailing your choice). YOU MUST SIGN UP BY TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH. FREE LUNCH AND POST ACTIVITY BBQ FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS!!!!

INDIANS GAME September 25th, 2009 Tickets are $5 if you participate in Case for Community Day, $10 if you don't.  Each student can buy 2 tickets with their grad Case ID.  Tickets will be on sale a) Friday at the Information Fair / BBQ, b) Tuesday and Wednesday next week during lunch in Nord, and c) at the GPC BBQ on Thursday.
