"Surviving Winter in Cleveland," or "What to do while waiting for Spring"
|
JAMES HARRIS, GSS GRADUATE/PROFESSIONAL COUNCIL LIASON
Dear past and future survivors of the brutal Cleveland winter:
Join our collective to create a fun and interesting outdoor event to slap the Cleveland Winter in the face.
We are planning an unexpected and creative way to celebrate (not just tolerate) winter, and to create a sense of community that extends beyond Case. We will be working with Pop Up City and other community organizations on planning an event in the dead of winter. Current ideas include winter sporting competitions, outdoor art installations, live music, and wintery food and drinks to make the frigid outdoors cozier. The opportunities for creativity and involvement are endless, so let your imaginations run wild!
We are looking for ideas, inspiration, and volunteers to make this vague idea a reality. And we need YOU!
Interested in doing something this winter besides waiting for spring to make its eventual return? Join us for a very informal meeting of the minds at the GradPro Council Happy Hour on Thursday, October 29, 5-7pm, at the Jolly Scholar. Can't make it that early? Join us at the Bier Markt / Bar Cento in Ohio City on October 29 after 6pm for pumpkin carving and discussion about how to have fun this winter.
We will be discussing plans for events and sites as well as the the professional experience and networking that may result from the whole process.
Can't make it at all on the 29th? Please e-mail Emily Hornack (emily.hornack@case.edu) or Jimmy Harris (james.p.harris@case.edu) if you have ideas on how to make it through the winter together. All ideas and people are welcome!
